It’s known as the Premiere Arts festival with vendors and shoppers converging on Barrie’s waterfront every August Long Weekend, but we found there is so much more to offer at Kempenfest. From food, fashion, entertainment and more, Kempenfest has it all.  This week It is all about Kempenfest in the Keys to the City of Barrie, brought to you by Pratt Homes.

When we walked around the very crowded, very long walking path along the waterfront, we found people from all over Ontario taking a look at booths that offer paintings and unique trinkets, homemade soaps and even baby clothes. That’s when we found Carissa from Copious Fashions. She sews every one of her pieces in her booth, however, they look like dresses and things you would buy at a mall!

The uniqueness of the vendors is what makes them stand out. So Hot Sauce, a duo from Bowmanville plays up the hot factor by infusing some cheeky language into the names: Climaxxx, Red Romp and Cilantro Sutra.  Oh, and we have to say, they were delicious and not surprising that they sell out.

For the kids who were patiently shopping with the grown ups, the midway offered a great treat at the end of the day, as did the beer gardens for adults and big name entertainment at night.

Kempenfest takes over Barrie ever August Long Weekend.
