Yoga is one of the best types of exercise for wellness, and in Barrie, Bliss Ann Green Yoga takes it one step further:  On the water!

Kempenfelt Bay is gorgeous and is the crown jewel of our city. Ann developed a yoga class that takes place at sunrise on stand up paddle boards. The combination of the serenity of the lake, the sun rising over the water, the sounds of the waves all make for an incredible experience.

We met Ann before the sun came up and headed into the shallow water on our paddle boards. We anchored down and got into some simple poses to get warmed up and used to the board. Yoga on the board takes a lot of balance and even more confidence! Once we got the hang of it, it was time to get challenged. Ann pushes you to try new things, but emphasizes that if a move isn’t for you, don’t worry about it!

We got halfway through the poses when Sarah fell in!  Ann says there’s always one that gets wet or dunked it. It’s all part of the experience.

When we finished the class we felt energized, and not just because the water was cold. The early morning energy gave us a jolt and made our day amazing. If you haven’t tried it, we guarantee you should!
