Deerhurst Resort is nestled just outside of Huntsville, Ontario. A small town about an hour and half north of Barrie that boasts all the things you love about Muskoka.
We took two of our friends for a road trip North and arrived on a sunny afternoon at the front doors of the iconic resort. A small fire was burning in a custom fire pit, the smell made us feel like we truly arrived in the Muskoka area.
We were settled into one of the condos with a gorgeous view of the small lake and hills that had a dusting of snow on top. Just sitting on the balcony looking at it made the stress just slip away.
While it was the shoulder season for resorts, some of the winter activities were put away for the season, but there was still so much to do. We were too antsy for a spa day, so we hit the trails for a walk in the sunshine. There were people everywhere doing the same thing. Some were taking horse drawn carriage rides, others walked around the half frozen lake too.
Deerhurst boasts a few restaurants, and we must say, the food is amazing. Lunch was in the pub, and Apryl had the Festive Poutine that all of us were all over. Imagine everything you love about Thanksgiving mixed with sweet potato fries!
After some relaxation in the condo, we got dressed up to head to the Untapped with the Muskoka Blues Connection event, It was presented by Muskoka Brewing and featured beer tastings, stand up dinner and capped off with a high energy performance by the Muskoka Blues Connection.
Deerhurst gave us a chance to recharge our batteries away from our jobs as moms, connect with our girlfriends in a way we haven’t done in a long time and truly appreciate the great things we have in our backyard. For a girls getaway it was perfect as you didn’t even need to leave the resort to have a bit of fun.
